Japan: Mitsui Kinzoku to form new sensor division

MITSUI Kinzoku has announced plans to establish a new Advanced Sensor division on 1 April 2007. The department, to be placed within its Corporate Technology Centre, will be responsible for new sensors, including urea identification sensors. The company plans to carry out full scale manufacturing of urea identification sensors used for exhaust emission control systems on diesel-powered vehicles. Urea identification sensors are used for the SCR (selective catalytic reduction) system, which helps to purify exhaust emissions containing nitrogen oxide (NO_x) by using a urea liquid solution.
