Netherlands: TomTom to open new RD centre in Eindhoven

TOMTOM has announced plans to open a new research and development centre for automotive embedded navigation systems. The centre, to be located in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, will employ 200 engineers, reports Dow Jones. TomTom intends to expand its scope from mainly personal navigation devices for consumers to include the business-to-business segment as well, the report noted. Company spokesperson Taco Titulaer clarified, however, that personal navigation devices will remain the company's "most important growth driver for short and mid term."
