THE back door of Skoda Auto's Roomster Scout model will be made of plastic, not metal. Only the frame of the door will be made from steel. The company worked on the project with fellow Czech company Cadence Innovation. "The door is made of thermoplast, not thermoset as was the case in (legendary East German) Trabant cars," Pavel Neumann, general manager of Cadence, told Automotive World. He continued: "An absolute novelty lies in the fact that the plastic in question, polypropylene, is actually cemented to the supporting frame."
