Japan: Head of Dow Automotive to be based in Tokyo

DOW Chemical of the US will have the new chief of its automotive materials operations reside in Tokyo, where he will also act as head of its Japanese subsidiary, according to a report in The Nikkei. The move is part of an attempt by the company at boosting local sales, the report noted. The world's largest chemicals company will install Peter Sykes, currently responsible for its Southeast Asia business, as president of in-house company Dow Automotive as of 1 April. However, despite Syke's move to Tokyo, Dow Automotive's headquarters will remain in Michigan.
