Scrap export tags drop $42/t in sales to Korea

Deep-sea ferrous scrap sales from the United States to South Korea have resumed at significantly lower levels, with cargoes now selling $42 per tonne below the last-reported sale to the region. A West Coast exporter sold a 45,000-tonne composite cargo comprising an 80:20 mix of No1 and No2 heavy melting scrap, shredded scrap and bonus material at $398 per tonne cfr, Fastmarkets learned on Monday February 1. A further breakout of the cargo was not available. The previously reported sale from the US West Coast to South Korea for HMS 1&2 (80:20) was made at $440 per tonne cfr at the end of December.
