Nucor Corp's direct-reduced iron (DRI) plant in Convent, Louisiana, remains down for an unspecified amount of time, but this is not expected to impact the company's steel production, the steelmaker confirmed to Fastmarkets on Tuesday September 14. The plant was “proactively shut down prior to Hurricane Ida making landfall [about two weeks ago],” Nucor director of public affairs and corporate communications Katherine Miller said. “Our Nucor teammates and their families are safe and the DRI plant did not sustain any major damage.”
