Preventive programmes and vaccination in Mediterranean finfish production

During the past years, the Aquaculture of Marine species in the Mediterranean has been one of the fastest growing industries. This year, the barrier of 100.000 tonnes should be overcome and almost 300 million fingerlings would have been stocked. The production of market size fish is mainly concentrated in Greece with one third of the total tonnage, whilst the main markets are in Western Europe, particularly in Italy and Spain. The main production of fingerlings is spread over four different countries, which underlined the important transfer of fish in the area.
