Legislation introduced July 24 by Rep. Steve Chabot (R-Ohio) would impose criminal liability for at tempted copyright infringement and conspiracy to commit copyright infringement. The Intellectual Property Enhanced Criminal En forcement Act of 2007 (H.R. 3155) is identical to a bill of the same name introduced last year, which itself in cluded several elements of a legislative package submit ted by the Department of Justice in November 2005 (71 PTCJ 51, 11/18/05; 72 PTCJ 392, 8/11/06). Attempts Criminalized. Like last year's measure, the Chabot bill would add the following language establish ing liability for attempted infringement and conspiracy to infringe under a new Section 506 (a) (3) of the Copy right Act:
