A pigmentation model for farmed Atlantic salmon: nonlinear regression analysis of published experimental data.

Relationships between Atlantic salmon flesh astaxanthin concn. and colour, as well as dietary astaxanthin concn. and fish size, were modelled. Parameter estimates were subjected to non-linear regression analysis and results showed good fit between the dependent variables and the observed data (R2 = 0.968; N = 43). It is suggested that the model developed may be suitable for integrated exploration of the relationship between Atlantic salmon flesh colour, fish size and feed composition.
