As the data trickles in: Looking back and looking forward

Fundamental market data for 2020 are trickling in. We are waiting for Q4 ’20 coal production data from MSHA which will likely be available soon. Final export data should be posted in about three weeks. Critical demand and inventory data, including domestic coal burn should be available in late March. Despite the data time lag, we know enough about 2020 to be “close enough.” We know the major trends and at this point, the final numbers are not that critical. Our focus is 2021.
