The number of violent incidents at the workplace has remained stable for the past four years, according to the HSE's analysis of the 2012/13 Crime Survey for England and Wales. "Violence" at work comprises physical assaults and threats that occur wherever people are working or are "at work", including at home. Despite the relative stability since 2008/09, the number of violent incidents was 28% lower in 2012/13 than in 2002/03, with physical assaults down by 25% and threats by 30%. The pattern is similar in terms of the risk of violence, with 1.4% of working adults suffering a violent incident in 2012/13 compared with 2% in 2002/03 but a stable rate over the past four years.
