Fatal falls, familiar failures

In this feature, we look at two prosecutions following fatal falls from height that resulted in one immediate and two suspended custodial sentences. Although one victim fell through a fragile roof and the second from a wall, the two incidents share all too common failures relating to planning the work, the use of casual labour rather than competent contractors, and the provision of appropriate equipment and fall protection measures.
