US: Novelis appoints new acting CEO

NOVELIS has named Edward A Blechschmidt, currently a member of its board of directors, as the acting chief executive officer with effect from 2 January 2007. Blechschmidt succeeds board chairman William T Monahan, who served as interim chief executive officer from August 2006 to year end. Monahan will continue to serve as the chairman of the Novelis board. The company intends to continue its search for a permanent chief executive officer.
