US: ArvinMeritor to develop dualmode hybrid powertrain for Wal-Mart

ARVINMERITOR and Wal-Mart, the largest US retailer, have agreed to develop a dual-mode, diesel-electric powertrain for a Class 8 tractor truck. The partners claim the vehicle will be the first dual-mode diesel-electric tractor prototype in North America. The hybrid truck will be based on an International Class 8 ProStar tractor and powered by an engine developed by Cummins.
