US: GKN Driveline to supply new propshaft for Chrysler Group vehicles

GKN Driveline says its countertrack PX propshaft technology features in versions of the Chrysler Group's 2007 US model year Dodge Ram and Dakota pickups and Durango SUVs. GKN claims that its countertrack system balances internal forces within a joint and improves operating efficiency by reducing energy losses due to heat and friction. The product enables 10% smaller package size for a given power rating, 25% reduction in weight over current CVJs (constant velocity joints) and more than a 30% increase in efficiency, according to GKN.
