A fatal reminder of the result of by-passing machine safeguards

Barely an issue of HSB goes by without a court case involving a fatal or serious injury caused by workers entering dangerous moving parts of a machine. In this feature, we look at one such case that resulted in the director of a textile manufacturing company receiving a suspended prison sentence after his brother, who was also the company's managing director, was killed inside a carding machine. The company, which has around 10 employees, and had a net book value of ￡46,000 on 31 March 2016, was fined ￡175,000.
