摘要

Leading epidemiologists have disputed landmark research published in October 2016 that dismissed any link between night work and breast cancer (HSB 454 p.1). The views of the epidemiologists have been brought together by Rory O'Neill, the editor of Hazards magazine, in a substantial and significant critique of the study1. The research findings were set out in a paper by Oxford University's Cancer Epidemiology Unit in the journal of the National Cancer Institute CJNCI)2. It stated that the classification "of night shift work as a probable human (breast) carcinogen" in 2007 by the World Health Organisation's International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) "is no longer justified".
