The May forward on mental health: more than words?

Employers feature prominently in the government's new plans to tackle mental health issues in the workplace. The prime minister, Theresa May, unveiled the plans as part of a package to transform mental health support in the UK's schools, workplaces and communities. While garnering a positive, if qualified, reaction from many in the business community and some mental health organisations, the speech has been attacked by trade unions and campaigners who highlight the difference between aspirational words and the experience of the Conservative coalition and majority administrations since 2010.
