Barroerock Construction has been fined £750,000, with costs of £14,874, for repeated failures to manage asbestos during the refurbishment of a former office block. The failures exposed up to 200 workers to the fatal fibres. The fine is, however, unlikely to be paid as a liquidator was appointed on 21 February, with a statement of affairs for the same day showing that the company had an "estimated deficiency" of £248,259. One of Barroerock Construction's two directors is now running another firm engaged in the same activities, with the second director also working for the new company.
