CHQ wire rod price rises on gains in scrap

Increased raw material costs have pushed the cost of cold-heading quality (CHQ) wire rod up in the United States, while high-carbon wire rod remained flat month on month, sources told Fastmarkets. Fastmarkets’ assessment for steel wire rod cold-heading quality, ddp rose to $38.50 per hundredweight ($770 per short ton) on Friday June 19, up by 1.3% from $28 per cwt one month earlier.
