Custom and practice ends in forklift hitting FedEx worker

FedEx UK has been fined ￡533,000 after a forklift truck reversed into an employee at one of its parcel distribution depots. The fine represents 3.9% of the parcel carrier's most recent pre-tax profit of ￡13.7 million. The employee, who wishes to remain anonymous, was working as a "feed operative" at FedEx's depot in Burntwood Business Park, near Cannock in Staffordshire, when the incident occurred in the early hours of 2 November 2017. The incident left him with serious fractures to one arm and soft tissue injuries to his legs, which prevented him from working for several months. The employee returned to work at Fedex but later left the company and is now working elsewhere.
