Fatality director back in court for more defective machinery

The director of a waste transfer company has received a suspended prison sentence and been banned from acting as a director after he was convicted of knowingly exposing employees to unsafe working conditions. The director, Zarif Mohammed, had been prosecuted six years earlier following a fatality at a different company of which he had been the owner and director (see box 1). Both prosecutions involved defective machinery used to move waste around a site and failures to check and maintain the machinery.
