Saving community services.

Privatisation threatens the NHS with higher costs and less accountability, with fragmentation and profiteering undermining the quality and quantity of services.1 The drive for 'patchwork privatisation' rears its head in the options for future service delivery that are presented to primary care trusts (PCTs) through Transforming Community Services (TCS). However, it is important to note that there is also the option of retaining services within the NHS - trusts do not have to privatise services! Local campaigns to defend services will strengthen the work of Unite nationally, and regional offices will support and advise local representatives (reps), as will the Unite Health Sector team.
