After many tribulations, the dreaded Health and Social Care Bill is now clawing its way through the House of Lords. Unite has been actively campaigning to get this awful piece of legislation withdrawn before it does too much damage to the NHS in England. The stubbornness with which it continues to be pushed through serves to emphasise just how much the government's credibility is at stake.Since all potential 'wrecking' motions have been voted down, the focus now is to persuade the Lords to amend or remove the worst elements of the proposed legislation - no easy task given the sheer quantity of changes needed.
