Women are to be encouraged to give birth at home provided they are low-risk and have already had at least one child.Current guidelines from the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) recommend women are given the choice over where they give birth, but urge caution around home births and midwife-led unit deliveries.Almost three-quarters of a million (729,000) babies were born in England and Wales during 2012, a rise of about 20% from 2002.
