Boyabat secures credit for hydro

Boyabat Elektrik has announced that it has secured $750 million credit to complete construction of its 513MW Boyabat hydro plant at Corum in north central Turkey. The announcement was made in a declaration to the Istanbul stock exchange by Boyabat's parent company, Turkey's biggest media group, Dogan Holding which stated that the loan will be repaid in 15 tranches by 2020 but gave no details of the banks providing it. Boyabat holds a 49-year generating license for the plant which is expected to enter service by the end of 2012. Boyabat Elektrik is majority owned by Dogan Holding which holds 66.5% of the company through two subsidiaries. Of the remainder, 33% is owned by the Belgium based Unit Group.
