Petrom may sell shares in 2010

OMV is ready to buy more shares of Petrom and hopes the Romanian company will sell new shares this year, OMV's CEO Wolfgang Ruttenstorfer said, according to KBC Securities January 21. "OMV is committed to inject equity into the company at any point in time and we hope this will be possible in the course of the year 2010." Romanian newspaper Ziarul Financiar cited Petrom CEO Mariana Gheorghe on December 18 as saying a share sale was possible. The Mediafax news agency reported the same day that Petrom may sell ?1 billion in new stock. KBC said: "To keep its current position, OMV should buy at least 50% of the new shares, which implies $700 million value for the potential SPO versus around $300 million free float currently."
