South Stream study starts

Slovenian gas transport system operator Geoplin Plinovodi and Russia's Gazprom have started working on a feasibility study for the South Stream natural gas pipeline stretch across Slovenian territory, announced the Slovenian company. The study should be completed by mid-2011, in accordance with the international agreement on South Stream signed in November 2009 by Slovenian Economy Minister Matej Lahovnik and Russian Energy Minister Sergei Shmatko, stated Geoplin Plinovodi director Marjan Eberlinc. Geoplin Plinovodi and Gazprom agreed to form a joint venture for the project, based on the results of the feasibility study.
