Bereza upgrade complete in 2010

Reconstruction of the fifth unit of the Bereza thermal power plant, in the western Brest region, is to be finalized in 2010, Belta news agency reported February 18. The 1,060-MW Bereza plant is the second-biggest in Belarus. It was built in 1961-1967. The project to upgrade the unit involves the installation of two additional 30-MW gas-fired turbines and the replacement of existing steam turbines with modern turbines of 175 to 185 MW capacity each.
