Top rap for Enel ME3

US-based GE Energy Services announced February 9 that it had been awarded a contract to convert two electrostatic precipitators (ESPs) at the Enel Maritza East 3 TPP - the four-unit lignite-fired power plant which the Italian company has thoroughly rehabilitated since entering a JV in 2003. A key helper since the start of the modernisation process, GE is now set to complete phase 6 of an 8-phase project by converting Fields 1 and 2 of the Unit 2 precipitator from traditional "tumbling hammer" system to GE's advanced "top rap" technology, thus raising reliability and cutting maintenance costs and emissions.
