Land tenure and new homes in informal settlements

This programme has enabled those living in the Kambi Moto informal settlement to obtain security of tenure and design and construct their own homes. The city council has transferred the land to the community as a whole, with each of the 270 households receiving sectional title for an equal-sized plot. A collaborative design process has produced a design that can be built incrementally over time and is connected to water, sanitation and electricity services.
