The widespread use of biomass for cooking in developing countries, and its associated problems for the environment and health, is well documented. What is less well known is how many industries and businesses also rely on wood and other forms of biomass. Technology Informatics Design Endeavour (TIDE), Bangalore, India, is promoting new technologies to improve the efficiency of biomass use in small and tiny businesses.
