摘要

If ever proof was needed that one woman can change the world positively, the life of Wangari Maathi, so brave, clever and strong-willed, shines as an example. Her activity resulted in changes of opinion and policy worldwide. Mainly due to her, the headquarters of UNEP (United Nations Environment Programme) was established in Nairobi, Kenya's capital. She was responsible for a mass movement to protect and restore Kenya's depleted forests - and forests around the globe. She brought pride to all Africanwomen by being the first of them to receive a Nobel Peace Prize. She wrote four inspirational books that carry much relevant and helpful guidance as to the survival of the human race and its care of the planet. Her words live on, as do many of the projects she established.
