The midsize SUV space is a crowded and super-competitive segment these days but Kia's new Sorento, now in its fourth gen, more than holds its own, A big part of that 'standing tall' in the face of some fierce competition comes from the engineering prowess that underpins Kia's flagship SUV. It's had a great start in life because it's the first vehicle to roll off Kia's new-gen SUV platform, code-named N3, which is based around a compact engine bay structure and shorter front and rear overhangs but with a 35mm longer wheelbase. This results in a larger body, more versatility and a three-row interior space.
