摘要

Abstract There is an emerging quest for sustainable materials with good mechanical properties and economic production, while still being functionalizable. Nanocellulose stands out as a promising renewable and biocompatible nanomaterial owing to its natural abundance, and unique architectural properties. Here the current state‐of‐the‐art of the nanocellulose‐oriented self‐assembly and advanced environmental remediation is reviewed. Various construction technologies are described in detail, to present new opportunities and approaches for the application of chemistry and nanotechnology to enhance the efficiency and affordability of water treatment and wastewater reuse. Finally, several challenges and issues that need further exploration in the future are highlighted.
