Growth is forecasted

Ministry of Economy and European Integration of Ukraine presented Forecast of economic development of the country for 2003 - 2004 in the end of June. Lyudmila MUSINA, Deputy Minister of the Ministry, is one of the document's authors. She shared her vision of Ukrainian economy ways of development with the correspondent of the magazine. Growth retardation in 2002 down to 4.8 percent was connected mainly with negative influence of external factors. Economic activities have declined in the first half of the year due to significant slowdown of world economy advance. This effect was amplified by measures to protect domestic markets taken by a number of countries being the major trade partners of Ukraine. Inefficient taxation system and low payment discipline also influenced deceleration of economic upturn. These factors stipulated difficulties in filling and implementing the state budget. The Government sustained budget proficite to secure payment and service of debts provided that privatization revenues are not enough and outside financing is absent. Such induced deflection of revenues caused non-fulfillment of planned expenditures under the general state budget by UAH 5.9 bn that respectively limited cumulative domestic demand in 2002.
