UKRAINIAN GRAIN MARKET IN 2003

The article is devoted to situation in grain market in Ukraine in the beginning of the current year and prospective of Its development in 2003 - 2004 marketing year. Specificity of this season consists in late beginning of spring fieldwork due to cool prolonged spring. State of affairs is complicated by the need to re-sow the majority of winter crops in the country that did not survive severe snowless winter. Experts forecast herewith that this year yield of crops would make 10 - 12 mn tons given planting of early summer crops versus 22 mn tons in 2001 and 24 mn tons in 2002. The author also examines estimations of Ukrainian grain export in the new marketing year and changes in organization of export. In the whole grain export is expected to be much less than in the previous year Besides, the State should strengthen control over grain export.
