Almost half of water treatment schemes use unapproved products

Unapproved products are being discovered on water treatment projects nationwide in a bid to meet ever stringent budgets, new research from plastic pipe manufacturer Durapipe UK has revealed. According to the research 43% of the contractors, consultants and end users questioned said they have retrospectively discovered that products which do not hold the relevant industry approvals have been installed on industrial projects. Half of these admitted leaving the products in operation as they were performing to expectation at the time, while the other half replaced the system with approved products, often at the cost of the contractor.
