A waiting game

After more than 10 years of wrangling, a decision is thought imminent from the European Court of Justice (ECJ) over the matter of dredging the River Elbe, only access channel to Hamburg, Germany's leading port. While the quay walls and cranes at the port are adequately equipped for the largest vessels in the world, the depth further up the river Elbe won't allow for vessels of more than 12.8mtr draught to get by without waiting for high tide.
