The Advanced Autonomous Waterborne Applications Initiative (AAWA) project was set up last year, aimed at smoothing the path towards autonomous or semi-autonomous shipping. It aims to identify, and overcome, obstacles that stand in the way of unmanned ships, from a technical, safety, economic and legal/regulatory standpoint.
