摘要

According to some scientists, the Atlantic salmon, whose native range once included most of the north Atlantic coast, is heading into an extinction vortex. In the last 30 years, catches of wild salmon have fallen by 80%. Scotland has not escaped thistrend, "with the WWF stating in a recent report that populations in Scottish rivers were at an all time low. Thirty percent are classified as endangered and vulnerable, whilst a further 27% are deemed extinct or critical.
