摘要

It is well accepted that nutrition plays a central role in the development of deformities in fish. Whenever large ponds and sea water enclosures have been used for producing fish, such as sea bream, sea bass and Atlantic cod the incidence of skeletaldeformities has been very low. Furthermore, fish produced from semi-intensive hatcheries have also been reported to have fewer deformities as compared with fish from intensive hatcheries. The accepted explanation to this is that in extensive systems thelarvae are feeding on natural wild-zooplankton which is nutritionally more suitable as compared with rotifers and Artemia used in the intensive systems.
