Researchers test rosemary oil as disease fighter: Best results against cold water disease

In the search for antibiotic alternatives for the treatment and prevention of fish diseases, a recently published study by scientists with the United States Department of Fish and Wildlife looked at rosemary oil as a pathogen stopper for in vitro fishcontagions. In the study, entitled "Inhibitory Effects of rosemary oil on the In Vitro Growth of Six Common Finfish Pathogens," fish physiologists and biologists at the Abernathy Fish Technology Center in Longview, Washington set out to examine the in vitro effects of an essential oil on bacteria commonly associated with fish diseases.
