For LS1s, maintaining reliability has become a real problem with spraying large amounts of nitrous. Excessive cylinder pressure has gotten the drop on nearly every LS1 attempting to run a 300hp shot of juice or larger in a single stage. Head gaskets are the usual victims because the heads are inclined to lift off the block in protest to the extreme cylinder and water pressure. In fact, nitrous cars are known to "push water," and if you don't have a catch can, you're bound to hose down the track. East Side Performance had been playing this game for quite a while with technician Gary Gonzalez' '00 Camaro SS, when the decision was made to switch over to the Edelbrock Dual-Stage system.
