Chinese steel export prices kept strengthening in the past month amid strong local demand,with HR coil breaching $500 /t for the first time since August last year. Iron ore prices, which surged to a 10-month high on Dalian Commodity Exchange, also boosted steel prices.Between 16 July and 14 August, CRU assessed Chinese HR coil export price rose by $41/t or 8.9%. The rebar export price index was up by $20/t or 4.6% from the previous month. During the same period, Chinese HR coil domestic spot price gained by 4.6%, while rebar spot price inched up 1.1%.
