Radiotherapy appears to be well tolerated, even in the geriatric population. The main objective of our study was to assess the frequency of radiotherapy discontinuation in patients over 75 years of age, treated at the General Hospital of La Roche-sur-Yon, the only radiotherapy facility in the Département de la Vendée, in western France, in 2019. The secondary objective was to assess the cause of discontinuation, as well as the risk factors associated with unprogrammed treatment discontinuation. Our study shows a discontinuation rate of 5.5% of patients (N = 17) with 95% Cl of 3.2-8.7% among the 300 patients included. The main causes of discontinuation were related to the disease (death following pejorative evolution) or related to medical or patient decisions (change of therapy, refusal). A significant association was shown between hospitalization throughout the duration of the sessions (p 2 (p<0.001) and premature stopping of radiotherapy. Our results are consistent with the existing data on the overall good tolerance of radiotherapy in the geriatric population.
