Since more than sixty years, nuclear energy had been tested and used in quite a number of applications: from centralised city heating, sea water desalting to driving of weapons, planes or sub-marines, including of course electricity production. The extraction of non conventional type of oil from bituminous sands in Alberta open a new field where nuclear industry could help in providing energy while avoiding large CO2 emissions. Production of hydrogen is another feature for the future which could help in producing substitutes to gasoline/gas oil. The new generations of nuclear reactors in the context of global warming could offer nice solutions provided that technics (isolation, security...), human resources or costs are adequate but the timing are not always compatible.
