Contrary to pessimistic expectations of most market participants, the demand for sea-river fleet continues to strengthen gradually inthe Azov Sea freight market in late January. According to grain traders, rumors about the revision of export restrictions on Russian grainhave boosted somewhat shipments of the commodity to the foreign markets. At present, deals for transportation of 3,000 t of wheatfrom Rostov to the Marmara Sea are fixed at $21/t (ice dues paid by the owners of fleet); a similar lot of wheat is moved to TBS at $19/t. A 3,000 t lot of wheat is offered for transportation from Azov to Mersin at $28-29/t and at $30/t to Lebanon. Steel scrap traffic is ratherregular at present. The shipping fees for 3,000 t of scrap from Rostov to the Marmara Sea have stayed at $24-25/t.
