For at least a year, top executives at Volkswagen have been talking publicly about vw.os – the Group’s own software stack – and about ramping up the group’s software competencies. Later in 2019 they began telling the world about their plans to set up Car.Software (Car.SW), an in-house software developer that will build vw.os and license it, along with other in-house software, to Volkswagen Group carmakers.
