VI-grade and BlackBerry QNX have agreed to integrate QNX‘s active sound design software in VI-grade’s NVH simulator. This will enable active sound design in real time for the entire soundscape. Up until now, vehicle sounds have been designed separately from natural vehicle noises in a studio and then subsequently tested in physical prototypes, which requires time-consuming adjustments. The NVH simulator connects QNX ASD with other sound and real-time data source in the vehicle such that tests and modifications can be carried out significantly earlier in the design process. The new solution will enable a complete NVH simulation to be carried out interactively in the target vehicle and so allow the sound design to be experienced as realistically as possible.
